Yo! Welcome to TestosteroneBoosterWorld, and my blog was set up with one mission: help some fellow brothers out when it comes to choosing supplements.
I’m Frank Ricci, a guy who isn’t afraid to give you a shot of truth serum and tell you straight up how much crap is floating around about testosterone. I set up this website due to all of the ridiculously bad information floating around out there. Honestly, I was sick and tired of seeing people be misled. I like to cite my sources, and let my honest product reviews give you information you can use to make smarter buying decisions.
Which Testosterone Boosters Really Work?
The highly competitive space of testosterone products is led by three market leaders. I’ve rated them all and this chart talks about the best boosters I’ve personally checked out. Click on the review link to learn more about each one.
Best Overall– Increases energy, libido, strength, lean muscle mass. Helps take off belly fat. The one I use.
I’ve run into blogs that list 100’s of products, but I find that really leads to confusion. I’ll share opinions on other products in my blog, but to me, if you are looking to boost testosterone levels, stick to these three supplements, and when you dive into the nitty gritty details, you’ll see why they come so highly recommended. (And not just by me.) If I have other recommendations in the future, I am always open to change my mind and update the site, but going back about a year now, these have been my three choices I’ve been telling people about, and the feedback I have gotten has been nothing short of incredible.
For me, I started getting into how testosterone works when I really wanted to increase my libido and natural energy levels. As I got into my mid-30’s, I saw my energy levels start to sink, and let’s be honest, you want to have the libido in prime form for the ladies, especially in the competitive world in which we live in. I’m happy to report that my workouts have gotten better, I’ve become more lean, and even lost some weight around my stomach, which has always been a trouble spot for me. It’s a lot easier losing weight when I supplement my diet with one of these boosters. The best part is, these are all safe to take and side-effect free.
If you are feeling like you may have low energy levels, a low level of testosterone, or could use some help with your libido, Prime Male is the best one for you.
If you are simply looking for something that will help you pack on muscle, and aren’t worried about the rest of the benefits, TestoFuel is the product you’ll want to buy.
Perhaps you aren’t sure about which one to buy, and want to value shop to see if a natural testosterone booster will help you, Testogen is by far the cheapest testosterone you can buy. While it may not be the best formula in comparison, it’s a good value and will give you an idea of if supplementing your diet with one of these products will work without breaking the bank.
Why Do You Need Testosterone?
Testosterone plays a vital role in men. Not only is it key to sex drive, but it also impacts muscle mass, the amount of mental and physical energy a man has and so much more. It’s important for men to understand testosterone, the impact it has on the body, and how detrimental low testosterone can be to a man’s livelihood.
What is Testosterone?
Testosterone is made in the testicles. As a male sex hormone, testosterone plays a vital role in male development as it relates to sexuality and body functions. When a male goes through puberty, testosterone is responsible for the development of male characteristics such as muscle mass, facial hair and a deeper voice. Without testosterone, men cannot make sperm. While these levels will decrease as a man ages, some men can develop low testosterone levels at an earlier age which can impact them mentally and physically.
Low testosterone in a man is referred to as (TD) or testosterone deficiency. A man experiencing this deficiency can experience the following symptoms:
Low sex drive
Low semen volume
Difficulty having and sustaining an erection
Loss of hair
Decrease in energy levels
Decrease in muscle mass
Increase in body fat
Decrease in bone mass
Increased risk of anemia
Decreased testicle size
11 Testosterone Deficiency Symptoms
#1: Low sex drive
Testosterone is vital to a man’s libido; low testosterone levels can lead to a low sex drive. While some men experience a decrease in their sex drive as they age, lower testosterone levels typically cause a man’s sex drive to decrease drastically. A man with these symptoms may experience frustration as it may lead to problems in a relationship. In cases where men are unaware of their low testosterone levels, not knowing what is causing a drop in desire can lead to frustration on the part of the man and his partner.
#2: Low semen volume
Semen is a fluid that helps move sperm, and testosterone is important in the creation of semen. If a man has low testosterone, he will notice a low volume of ejaculation. Low semen volume can impact a man’s ability to conceive a child. By having a lower semen volume, the sperm will not move as freely and have less of a chance of attaching. Low semen does not mean a man will be infertile, but the lower production of semen can lead to less sperm and less opportunity for conception.
#3: Difficulty having and sustaining an erection
Testosterone not only aids in a man’s sex drive, but it also contributes to attaining and prolonging an erection. While testosterone does not necessarily “create” an erection, it is responsible for the brain’s stimulation in producing nitric oxide which is necessary in achieving an erection. Just as with the symptom of a lower sex drive, not being able to hold an erection can create issues in relationships related to intimacy. For most men and women, sex is a key component to a healthy relationship. Issues gaining or maintaining an erection can lead to relationship problems because of a lack of intimacy in the relationship.
#4: Loss of hair
Since testosterone is a hormone that impacts a man’s physical development, low levels can decrease hair production. While balding is a natural occurrence in aging men, lower testosterone levels can lead to not only loss of hair on the head but also body and facial hair. This symptom can impact a man’s self esteem about his appearance and lead to self-loathing. Lower self esteem due to loss of hair can also impact relationships because of insecurity on the man’s part. Loss of hair may contribute to long term experimentation with procedures and products to gain hair growth.
#5: Decrease in energy levels
Men with testosterone deficiency often experience lower energy levels and fatigue. This fatigue goes beyond just being tired; if a man is tired the majority of the day despite plenty of sleep, and a lack of motivation to exercise or move, these can be symptoms of low testosterone levels. On a daily basis, a decrease in energy can lead to a man being moody or unmotivated. Not only can this impact relationships but also job performance and other important areas of a person’s life.
#6: Decrease in muscle mass
Low testosterone levels can contribute to less muscle mass. This does not necessarily relate to the strength of a man but just the mass. For any man interested in building muscle mass and looking more bulky, loss of body mass due to low levels can lead to frustration when working out. Even though strength is not impacted, some men tend to work out to gain muscle mass. Lower testosterone levels make this more difficult and can lead to experimentation of muscle gaining products that are unhealthy (steroids for example).
#7: Increase in body fat
Men with lower levels of testosterone typically have more body fast and sometimes experience a growth in breast tissue. Even with diet and exercise there is an increase in body fat, leading to frustration when diet and exercise fail to work. An increase in body fat can negatively impact a man’s appearance, leading to low self-esteem. Growth in breast tissue can also cause a man to be self-conscious about his body and feel more feminine due to an increase in the breast area.
#8: Decrease in bone mass
Testosterone plays a vital role in creating and maintaining bone strength. While osteoporosis is a condition commonly known to impact women, men with low testosterone levels can also develop this condition that leads to bone loss. On a daily basis, men with lower levels need to do more physical activity, change their diet and see a doctor to strengthen the bones in other ways. Otherwise, this condition will only deteriorate and cause bone issues later in life.
#9: Mood swings
Changes in mood can be a sign of low testosterone levels in men because it can drastically alter a man’s mood. Men with this symptom typically deal with depression, mood swings or lack of mental focus. Daily mood swings can disrupt work life, interfere with relationships and friendships, along with other areas of a person’s social life.
#10: Increased risk of anemia
There is a correlation between testosterone deficiency and an increased risk of anemia. Symptoms associated with anemia include: lack of concentration, muscle cramps in the legs, sleeplessness, rapid heart rate, and dizziness. These symptoms can negatively impact a man’s health and normal activities. Not being able to sleep will contribute even more to mood swings and lack of focus, and dizziness can cause an inability to engage in activities.
#11: Decreased testicle size
Men with lower testosterone levels typically have smaller testicles which results in less penis development and more than likely a smaller penis in comparison to men with normal testosterone levels. A decreased penis size can impact a man’s self-esteem; other men and women may negatively judge his body, impacting his willingness to engage in sexual activity in relationships. This can lead to feelings of depression and being alone.
It’s important to understand the symptoms of low testosterone. Men who are experiencing a majority of these symptoms should consult with their doctor as there are recommended treatments that can help with testosterone levels.
My Take on the Top Selling Test Boosters
Since I have been using this one and gotten the best results, it’s the one I rate #1. While your mileage may vary, here are my thoughts:
What I Liked:
Formula features 12 ingredients that are all scientifically linked to boosting levels of testosterone.
Has the most effective formula based on all of the clinical trials I’ve read.
The “Four Horsemen” of test boosting ingredients are all featured: D-aspartic acid, Magnesium and Zinc, and Vitamin D. If your product doesn’t have these, you are getting ripped off.
Loads of testimonials from satisfied customers.
Ingredients, dosages, and medical claims are the most transparent.
No reported side effects. I searched high and low.
My personal experience with this product was off the charts. More energy, a greater libido, and more endurance in my workouts. My muscles are more defined and I’m in better shape than when I was 25.
What I Wish Was Different:
You can only buy this direct from the manufacturer, so you won’t be able to price shop. You can get some savings if you buy in bulk, however.
This is the best testosterone supplement to buy if you are serious about an all out attack on testosterone and body function.
Now, if you are a gym rat with a strong libido and solid energy either naturally or derived from other sources, and you simply want to focus on GAINS, I would tell you that you can’t go wrong with TestoFuel.
What I Liked:
As I mentioned earlier, D-aspartic acid is important. You’ll find higher dosages of that in this product, making it a great fit for workout junkies and aspiring bodybuilders.
Magnesium, Zinc and Vitamin D are all in this formula as well.
User reviews are consistent – they are happy with this product.
All natural formula.
Transparent formula with no reported side effects.
What I Wish Was Different:
The formula is geared towards lifting, and not so much vitaility.
Only available direct from the manufacturer.
Again, if GAINS are your goal, this is the best supplement for increasing T for you.
As I alluded to earlier, this is the one to get if you are unsure if a product of this nature will be best for you or don’t have the budget to get involved with the others I mentioned. While you won’t get the super powerful ingredient formulas of the other two products, when you buy this in three packs, you’ll save a ton and get first hand knowledge as to if this type of product is for you.
What I Liked:
Has three of the “Four Horsemen” of test-ingredients: D-aspartic acid, zinc, and vitamin D.
Reviews are solid – there’s a reason this is in the top three out of 100’s of competitors.
All natural and safe.
Huge savings versus the other supplements.
What I Wish Was Different:
Low doses of Vitamin D
Ancillary ingredients aren’t as good as the Prime Male.
Can only buy from their website.
Why I Chose To Supplement With Testosterone Boosters
My initial thought process was, “I’m entering my mid-thirties, could use some energy, am trying to get laid and do it well (I told you I’m transparent), and regain the focus, drive, and muscular prowess I had in my early 20’s. Unfortunately working in IT, I’m in a sedentary lifestyle quite a bit and often times am dragging by the end of a day spent on computers.
I quickly realized that my testosterone levels were declining, which is natural for men. They dip at the rate of about 1% each year after the age of 30, so my goal in supplementing was to offset that as best as possible.
I’m far from a supplement junkie, in fact I don’t do energy drinks, BCAA’s, or even protein powder. I get all my supplements naturally, through food choices. However, I figured with the decline in testosterone in my body, this was a good way test to see if I could bring back some more power to my life.
How My Product Research Started
I’m a tech nerd at heart, so I read a lot of blogs and online journals. But one thing I do perhaps more diligently than others is listen to podcasts. The Joe Rogan Experience is one of my favorites, and I’ve taken away many pearls of wisdom on this subject from many sources. It’s really all about understanding micronutrients, like vitamins and minerals, when looking for a supplement to boost testosterone.
When you know which ingredients to look for, it makes slimming down the list of poor supplements much easier.
Most products out there scream SCAM!
They have a “proprietary” formula that you won’t ever learn about, mostly because it’s a load of crap! This marketing tactic has sold million of bottles of private label supplements for years, but I tend to know a bit about product marketing, so I dug in, asked around, got opinions, and found out the truth. It was alarming, but it led to results and money saved!
Who is a Candidate for Test Boosters?
Males approaching or over thirty are the target market, but if you experience any symptoms below, you should look into supplementing your t levels immediately:
poor sex drive
lack of energy
(Any mix…or all of the above?)
How to Choose a Testosterone Boosting Pill
Like a good pizza, a product is only as good as it’s ingredients. I’ve harped on this a ton already. Need I say more?
I’ll add that the research is all clear on the ingredients I found that work. Feel free to double check my work if you want to go further down the rabbit hole.
Most products you’ll find for sale without a prescription should be safe. I tend to buy only products made in the USA due to safety standards, but that’s just my preference.
Disclosures & Dosages
Like I said before, don’t fall for the “proprietary formula” crap. It’s marketing. Let them tell you EXACTLY how much and what you are consuming.
Anyone can photoshop some before and after pics and make a product look like a game changer. I look for credible, written reviews as well. I also go high and low in search engines to see what’s out there. I don’t buy from companies that appear on RipoffReport and similar sites more than a couple times.
Ingredients That MUST Be In Your Testosterone Supplement
My research shows that you should have the following ingredients if you want maximum potency in your product.
D-aspartic Acid (DAA): helps produce testosterone. The first thing I look for in any formula.
Vitamin D: the good old sunshine vitamin has so many benefits, but perhaps none more important than producing testosterone. Since many of us are trapped indoors working, our levels suffer from this and bring us to a deficiency.
Zinc: You’ll find this mostly in oyster extract, which is probably why I eat so many oysters! This helps increase levels of free range testosterone, and that’s scientifically proven.
Magnesium: this will amp up your rate of testosterone synthesis, meaning your body will absorb and utilize more of the testosterone it’s making.
If you see any whacky ingredients, look them up. Also look them up and add the words “Side Effects” after them in your search. You could save yourself some painful experiences.
Again, I invite you do to your own research on this topic and see what you find. I don’t just make up stuff because I like to write. I am a “get down to brass tacks” type of guy.
Testosterone Booster Benefits
By targeting specific cells in the testes that make HGH, testosterone in particular, these boosters provide cells with the fuel they need to crank out T at more optimal levels. When this happens, your body will naturally make more T and help you develop muscularly.
Why Use Natural Testosterone Builders?
I’ve given my reasons for using these products already, but let’s break them down a bit more.
To Gain Rock Hard Muscle
Faster gains, quicker muscle growth, better performance, and faster recovery are all things guys want in their fitness regimen.
Natural and Healthy Way to Grow
Without any side effects, it’s hard to turn down something this powerful. It’s a low risk way to get major gains. When you compare these to steroids, which can be extremely dangerous and abused, to me, it’s a no brainer.
Lose Fat Quickly
If you want to target stomach fat like I did, there is perhaps no better way than using a test boosting product.
One great side effect of testosterone is that it will generally improve your mood. This makes it easier to stay motivated and focused on your goals.
Increased Sex Drive and Libido:
Increases in testosterone levels have been linked to increases in sex drive and libido. Some people use testosterone boosters to last longer or just simply to revitalize their sex drive.
Side Effects of Testosterone Boosters
While there are always products out there that break rules and defy logic, for the most part an over the counter product should NOT have any side effects or harm your body in any way. Think of them as more targeted vitamins that have specific goals in mind. Of course, follow dosage levels very carefully and do not over-consume ANY supplement.
Reported side effects I’ve read on other websites include:
Low quality products that didn’t work
Of course, these are all things seen in the scammy testosterone products, and not any of the big three I mention here. Go outside of my recommendations at your own risk!
